rooms are fairly clean

please put rubish bin in more than one place and clean the bath room and toilet more. the price of using the net is relatively high

It is located in the centre of the old city, which is easy to find. The room was clean and the shower was good.

I stayed at the 6-bed room. Although the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The problem was the noise, I am not sure where it came from. Every 10 minutes, the sound/noise came somewhere from the wall, like ventilation. I woke up all the time because of the sound, I couldn't sleep well. It was a bit shame.

The hotel had a terrible smell. Also, the toilets were terrible and the shower facilities were mediocre, isolated cubicles though water pressrue was good. Quite run down inside. However, room itself is fine and beds are ok to sleep on. There are other better hostels at similar prices. The location however is great, right in the middle of town.

Ok - this is a very basic backpackers' hostel, so don't expect any frills, but if you just need a place to stay over in Edinburgh, it's absolutely spot-on. Its staff were extremely friendly and helpful, even though my train to Edinburgh was delayed and I didn't get there until well after midnight. The location couldn't be better either - right in the middle of the Royal Mile ... but that does mean it's not exactly in a peaceful backwater!

Being able to interact with people from all over the world, and being able to have a lovely cuppa on arrival.

The Stairs, but then the young gentleman offered to help me with my luggage, which was great, thank you.

i liked the central location unfussy attitude of brodies hostel i was in town to run a marathon and it suited my needs perfectly

To a hostel, it is good. Not far from railway station, but the main door is too small to find. No breakfast. Shared bathroom and toilet. The bed is comfortable, 24h hot water. It is suitable for young package visitor. But in the room it smelled not good, maybe the air fresher caused it.

Receptionist very pleasant and welcoming. Reception area clean/welcoming. Lots of info on whats on. Shower good (pressure/temperature)

Overall the decor is a little shabby. There was a large crack in the door of the reception desk, the celings in the shower were black/damp and decor generally appeared a bit worn/tired. I understand its budget accommodation however overall some paint etc would not go amiss in the bedrooms and corridors. No offence meant. I would still reccomend it though.

The kitchen is really good for backpacker and the basic double is very big.

The location was just perfect that we can walk to all the sightseeing spot in very short time. The hostel staff are very friendly and kind that she brought us a heater in the room. The hostel also have a kitchen that you can cooked if you wanted to save money on the meals. If I visit edinburgh, I'll stay there again.
